Before I begin my argument, I would just like to establish that I am in no way, shape or form a fundamentalist. In the modern day time where drinking alcohol every weekend is the norm, and pre-marital relationships between the opposite genders encouraged, for some, religion does not seem to have any significance in their lives. And this deeply saddens me. How can you be so immersed in the creations of God and man-made things (made by the creations of God) and not be moved in recognition of the creator himself?
What is growing apparent to me is that people who do actually believe in God, are afraid to challenge non-believers in an attempt not to be labelled extremist or radical. I'm sorry, for the love and faith in my religion and God, I would most happily take that risk.
I do not care how many degrees you have, whatever your academic background may or may not entail, who your dad is, how much money you have in your bank account, how many countries you have visited, the depth of the intellectual conversations you have had .. If you deny the existence of God, you remain ignorant. How can you deny the existence of God .. I have to pose the question I always ask atheists 'How do you think we got here?' Usually, some of them shrug their shoulders, while some of them bring the big bang to the surface, which I detest. How can the entire human race and the universe have evolved out of nothing. Come on, how can one be that ignorant. We simply have to look within ourselves .. take our bodily organs for example, they are so intricate and readily organised, how can that be a mistake or be a factor of chance?
Though my religion (Islam) holds the renowned record of being the fastest growing religion in the world against the backdrop of Islamphobia, outsiders are failing to see why. Ask any revert to Islam, how the religion has benefited their lives. And they will most likely answer by giving references to their new-found happiness, structure, hope and true inner peace. Things money can't buy, things New-Age sects try and give temporarily. Yes spirituality seems to be on the rise, but sinful activities and the promotion of this hitherto,
Why are there are so many indecent images on the telly? So many alcoholic drinks on display? How do we expect the future generation of women to feel empowered, when women are being paid to sell their body? Why is it cool to be a sinner? That's my burning question.
Men openly boasting about their numerous encounters with women. Women dressing immodestly. Young kids taking lives. These immoral acts seems to be glamorised in Western culture, and those in power need to empathise with the believers, with making religion cool too. Because right now, it seems to be cool not to follow religion, by enjoying the wayward thrills of this life, which are not permanent anyway and a bit naff to obediently follow something you believe in.
If we are to create a better informed, kinder, just and genuinely content generation, cultural changes need to take place. Why not ban alcoholic drinks altogether? They don't bring more benefits than disadvantages! Why not introduce modest clothing into the fashion industry? Why not promote more marriage and courting services rather than abortion clinics? Yes, there are many more sins to account for on the behalf of humans, but these are the questions I have posed based on the doings of the majority.
I believe in God. I follow Islam. I have never had alcohol, I do not rave. Yes, I do have a life. And yes, I am cool.
