Managing Director of Access UK : Nana Ageyman
With the recent report into the unfortunate situation in youth unemployment, I am delighted to introduce to you 'ACCESS UK'. Founded in 2014 by Nana Ageyman, this organisation focuses pre-dominantly in directing ex-offenders and ex-gang members into appropriate employment.
Ageyman boasts 15 years of experience in the welfare to work industry, being appointed in many influential positions. He has previously worked as a youth worker, mentor, and as manager and senior employment consultant for numerous work providers in the UK.
Access UK specifically aims to assist those from BAME (Black and minority ethnic groups) as well as those whom are NEET (not in education, employment and training) and are between the ages of 16-24. The organisation is very pro-active in its approach, by presenting their clients with suitable training, workshops and education.
What particularly stands out about this charitable enterprise is their willingness to empower the youth via programmes which seek to intervene and provide positive outlooks on life and the self. One example of this, is the incorporation of black history lessons and an emphasis on powerful historical figures such as, Mansa Musa.
Aside from teaching the youth more about their roots, Access UK goes out of their way to invest in life-skills. This is illustrated in the way that they offer life-skills training in first aid and goal-setting interventions.
Sometimes the youth lack motivation and positive role-models, which is why Access UK is searching for inspiring young people to act as role-models and conduct seminars regularly to raise the aspirations of the young people they work with.
Currently, Access UK will be operating from disadvantaged boroughs in London such as : Hackney, Harinegy and Brent. For those who desire support but live outside these boroughs, get in contact with your local job centre, probation services or MP and ask to be referred to Access UK's employability programme,
