With the recent depiction of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a French satirical magazine that caused terrorists attacks, in additon to a woman today lacing a holy bible with heroin, which she sent to an inmate in Hamilton County Jail in the US .. I am speechless at the lack of respect and dignity showed by the majority of the public for religious people's beliefs.
Before someone who suffers from Islamphobia takes a jab at me, I would like to declare that I condemn the massacre in Paris as a result of Charlie Hebdo's feature of a cartoon of prophet Muhammad (PBUH). As much as everyone should be entitled the basics human rights of freedom of speech, restrictions need to be put in place, in order to have consensus in society. The same way we all have a multiplicity of thoughts and ideas in our minds, but know better not to share all of them, the same ideals need to be practices in line with sensitive areas such as religion. Islam explicitly preaches no imagery portraying Allah (God) and the prophets. So .. it bewilders me how anyone could have thought it to be okay to create this cartoon. With the rise in terrorist attacks worldwide, how can this have been a wise decision? Surely something like this will anger the fanatics and give them more reason to be violent in their attacks? Or is that what is being planned by governments? Do they want fanatics to strike and then blame Muslims for the actions of these fools? Call it a conspiracy if you wish, I'm just sharing my thoughts.
As for the woman who sent an inmate drugs which were contained in a bible, yes the holy bible, if she were to do such a heinous thing, why the bible? Why not an ordinary paperback? Okay, so maybe that would have been a little bit suspicious, but the same goes for the bible .. so was this an attempt to mock the religion of Christianity? There was enough heroin for 30-40 hits, which resembles a coffee stain on one of the pages in the bible she had sent in.
It is mind blowing to see what lengths people would go to, to deliberately dis-respect a religion. I am in no way a saint, but I believe in my religion dearly and respect the Christian and Judaism religion also. As much as we may live in a secular society, where science is becoming more and more advance and attempting to take over religion and create a repetitive period of disenchantment, which was witnessed in earlier centuries, religious groups and sects are continuously growing.
If we are to live peacefully and with understanding of each other, we need to become more mindful of how we treat the beliefs of those who are God-fearing and humble.
