Dear Mum (or Ama as I would call you)

You are nothing short of amazing.

Thank you for all the times you have forgiven me for bringing tears to your eyes, when quite frankly, heaven lies at your feet. You are so beautiful, but yet so humble.(I wonder where I get the 'I'm the bee's knee's attitude from), actually I don't .. but you know what I mean, cos I kinda do.

Thank you for not letting your past of pain get the best of you, to go through such turmoil and agony and yet you strive to keep us happy, you are a Queen without a crown ( I guess I should buy you one). I can see you smiling now, see .. I knew it, gosh! You should really apply for being an actress in the next Colgate advert, No, you really should. Nice white teeth like that! You go mum!

Thank you for making everyone's breakfast in the morning,even now, when were capable of doing so ourselves.

Thank you for supporting me at times when I've felt low and wanted to give up.
You are an angel without any wings. You're so pure, your heart is so golden (now that's definitely something I got from you)! You know what they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

I honestly don't know where we'd be without you, how we would function and what would happen to us. Knowing you're always home, no matter what happens outside, provides me with so much comfort, there is no English word in the dictionary to describe it. There have been many times I've come home in tears, or angry at someone or something that has happened, but knocking on my door and walking in to sit at the edge of my bed, is all that you need to do, to calm me down and make you smile.

Couldn't have been easy raising us all up, as you are now, and for that, my mother, I salute you! You make sure we are fed three nourishing meals a day and that there's clothes on our back. Times have been hard, but you'd rather spend your last change on us, then buy yourself a chocolate bar!

I fear the day you may be taken up to the heavens, because a mother like you is irreplaceable (no, no, don't worry, I'm not about to play Beyonce-Irreplaceable) - I'm not that cheesy! You make the world a better place simply by being it, I hope to never loose you. You are the best gift Allah has given me and I promise to cherish you for the rest of my life.

Prisoners Are Being Mistreated By Jail Staff. Odigie, A Previous Category A Prisoner, Tells Me His Story Of The Misconduct Present In Jail.

G4S Medway Centre for young offenders has been under extreme scrutiny since January this year, when BBC Panaroma revealed the harrowing crimes committed by custody officers against the young people in their care. Only about a month ago, a prisoner got in touch with me via his contraband mobile phone, putting me in touch with a 'brother' who had been treated unfairly by the justice system and had a story to tell. The latter is a man named Jude Odigie, who otherwise goes by his Muslim name Hamzah, and is currently residing abroad in Nigeria with his family. Myself and Odigie have been communicating through whatsapp, by sending each other messages and occasionally discussing things on the phone.
